Blackula Jonez Kioea sent me now that i have become and unabashed mark for Carand Burnet's musical styling. Surf rock vibes with heavy effect pedal action is what i like & this album delivers.

neighborbelow Although Carand’s inspiration was drawn from Angel Lake, this album calls to mind a very different geography of the Southwest: Canyon de Chelly in Navajo Country, northeastern Arizona. Specifically it reminds me of lying on my belly on the edge of an overlook high above the canyon with the vast silence of the canyon below, the silence of mountains rising in the distance, and a hawk riding the thermals rising from the canyon, hovering just at eye level. Favorite track: Dakota Shadows.

about

$2 from each digital download of Sound Altar is donated to the American Bird Conservancy (abcbirds.org).

Angel Lake began when Carand Burnet took a cross-country road trip and visited Angel Lake in northeastern Nevada. Sitting at 8,500 feet in elevation, the alpine lake overlooks panoramic views of the Ruby Mountains. Burnet became inspired by the area and named her solo project in honor of this special place. Angel Lake's debut album, Sound Altar, combines guitar and sitar with electronic drums and sound loops. Overall, Sound Altar has a daydream-like mood made of spacious reverberations.
